Overview

Wise Old Man is an NPC who began selling elemental Shards as of the 2026-08-26 Patch — before this, no shop sold shards at all; they were only obtainable via Mixnometry.

The shop's internal id is wise_old_man_shards, named "Wise Old Man's Shards" in the client.

Shop Stock

All seven shard prices are now recorded. Three were confirmed in-game on 2026-08-26; the client's own shop table, read on 2026-08-27, lists all seven and matches those three exactly — which is why the remaining four are recorded here as prices rather than estimates.

Every shard is stocked in quantity 50, restocks on a 6,000-tick timer, and cannot be sold back to the shop (buyback: false) — the restock and buyback fields are both new to the client's shop format as of this build, matching the 2026-08-26 Patch's shop-restocking note.

The steep Warp Shard price stands out: Warp Shard had no confirmed in-game use for a long time (see Shards). It is now also the shard consumed by the new teleport spells (see Magic), which gives it a concrete use for the first time.

Location

The shop's NPC id is npc_player_greentown_2, which places the Wise Old Man in Greentown. This is an inference from the internal id, not a sighting — the id scheme has been reliable elsewhere (the Fish Stall and Guard's Stash use the same npc_player_greentown_* pattern and are both in Greentown), but it has not been visually confirmed.
