New Player Guide
This guide covers the tutorial, where you arrive on the mainland, and what to prioritize in your first hour. It is based on verified in-game play (July 2026). Facts that are not yet confirmed are marked as such.
Tutorial
New characters start on a tutorial island and complete the game's first quest, Star's Tutorial — its official name in the in-game Quest Journal (verified July 2026) — as a fixed sequence of tasks:
- Woodcutting and Firemaking — speak with Star to begin training. Receive an axe, collect 2 Logs, and bring them back to Star (a Lighter and lighting a log are part of this lesson).
- Fishing and Cooking — find Survival Sankson for the next lesson: he hands over a Fishing Net; catch a crawdad, cook it, and bring it to him.
- Mining and Smithing — meet the Spiky Boatman and get a pickaxe. Mine tin and copper, smelt them into a Bronze Bar, and use the anvil to forge a Bronze Short Sword.
- Archery — a Bow and some arrows are also handed over before completion.
- Departure — talk to the Spiky Boatman to take his boat to the mainland; this completes the tutorial.
Help verify starting inventory after the tutorial (which tutorial items are kept) Accepted evidence: inventory screenshot taken after arriving on the mainland.
Arriving on the Mainland
The boat delivers new players to the southern part of the desert zone, on the northwest island of the world map. The zone's proper in-game name has not been confirmed — see Locations for the full gameplay-verified world survey. Foxes and Camels roam the spawn area; both drop only Bones.
First-Hour Priorities
- Make the desert bank your home base. North of the desert lake stands a bank with a furnace and an anvil (Bank Node, Furnace Node, Anvil Node). Buns Remilio's shop at the bank sells the Fishing Rod and the Crafting Knife.
- Fish crawdads to Fishing 15. The crawdad fishing spots surround the spawn area, south of the desert lake.
- Farm the level-2 goblin camp for gold and bones. West of the desert bank are copper and tin rocks; further west is a camp of four aggressive level-2 Goblins that drop gold and Bones. Beware: aggressive level-14 Scorpions roam the copper and tin rocks on the way.

- Levels 1–15: crawdads at the spots south of the desert lake.
- Levels 15–25: trout at the desert lake (three fishing spots).
- Levels 25–35: bubba bass in the grass zone near the cow field, across the bridge east of the desert zone.
- After 35: catfish.

Combat route: level-2 goblin camp

Help verify requirements Accepted evidence: verified requirement screenshot or official data.
The four level-2 Goblins west of the copper and tin rocks are an easy early leveling spot and a steady source of gold and Bones.
Heading East
East of the desert lake, past the snow-covered area where Payasan NPCs are found, a bridge crosses to the grass zone on the main landmass: a church, a cow field, and Greentown, which has its own bank. See Locations for the full survey, including the higher-level areas beyond Greentown.
