Overview
Jack's Little Gardening Job is the Halloween quest, added by the 2026-10-26 Patch. Jack, who has lost his head, lives in a haunted estate that "has appeared north of the farms". You find him a new head, go trick-or-treating for him, and then clear the cursed roots from his garden with his axe. It's the game's fourth quest, after Star's Tutorial, Desert Adventure and Colt 45.
Rewards: the Shadowfang Axe partway through, and a Pumpkin Head at the end. Both are untradeable.
The step text below is the quest journal's own wording, read from the game client. The dialogue, the gardener's name, and where exactly the pumpkins and roots are come from the server, so they still need to be filled in from play.
Where to start
Jack is in the haunted estate the client calls "Jack's summoned ruin": a ruined manor with an ember throne, three wandering spirits, gravestones and cobwebs. In world coordinates it sits around x 382, z 340, south of Green Town, matching the journal's "north of the farms".
The game draws Jack as a headless pumpkin reaper holding the Shadowfang Axe.

Notes on the steps
- Step 2: the new Pumpkin item is "A ripe pumpkin, ready for Halloween". Pumpkins (and lit jack-o'-lanterns) are new pickable objects, so you presumably pick one rather than buy it.
- Step 4: the three stops are the Farmer at his farmhouse, the Barkeep in Greentown (Barkeep Shop) and the Wise Old Man, also in Greentown. You don't need to carry anything.
- Step 5: the cursed growth is a set of new choppable objects (see Woodcutting#Cursed roots): thin root knots, swollen "heart" roots and blight pods. Chopped ones leave a severed root or a cut pod behind.
